Hernias
There are several types of hernias, including inguinal (groin), umbilical (belly button), and femoral (upper thigh). Abdominal hernias are one of the most common types of hernia, and they occur when part of the abdominal wall is weakened, and internal contents are pushed through this weakened spot or connective tissue.Â
Surgical intervention is required for hernia repair and can occur as traditional open or minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Each patient will have unique concerns and require a thorough assessment to determine the right course of action for the surgeon. This surgical procedure involves moving the protruding tissue back into place, and then repairing the weakness with mesh (note this mesh is safe and different to the problems that women have had with gynaecological surgery)
